GOES-K (the third satellite in the GOES I-M series) was launched on 24 April 1997. After initial testing, the satellite was designated GOES-10, and will be placed in on-orbit storage at 105o West longitude. In addition to the first full disk visible image shown above, earlier visible test images are available over the western and eastern United States, along with 1-km resolution images centered on San Francisco CA, Las Vegas NV, Long Island NY, and the Chesapeake Bay.
