This loop of GOES-8/10 Sounder total precipitable water (PW) shows the very moist air mass that was in place across much of the southeastern U.S. on 06 July. PW values of 50 mm and higher were evident (purple enhancement), which helped to fuel the rapidly developing convection as the MVC moved westward into the Carolinas.
