This loop of GOES-8 10.7 micron longwave InfraRed imagery shows erosion of the extensive stratus deck (light gray enhancement) across the western Dakotas early in the period (03:15 - 10:02 UTC), but does does a poor job of detecting the formation of fog/stratus across southwestern Minnesota/northeastern South Dakota/southeastern North Dakota after about 07:30 UTC. In addition, the westward motion of low cloud features along the Iowa/Minnesota border into southern South Dakota is difficult to detect under the thin cirrus clouds (brighter white enhancement) that was overspreading the southern portion of the region.
