This loop of GOES-8 fog/stratus product imagery shows the nighttime formation of fog/stratus (light gray enhancement) across southwestern Minnesota/northeastern South Dakota/southeastern North Dakota after about 07:30 UTC (01:30 AM local time). This imagery also reveals the westward motion of low cloud features along the Iowa/Minnesota border into southern South Dakota, even beneath the thin cirrus cloudiness (dark enhancement) that was overspreading the southern portion of the region.
Hourly surface reports are ploted on the images, with bold cyan numbers representing the ceiling height [feet].
