This loop of GOES-8 water vapor imagery shows the upper-level cyclone which was nearly stationary near 29 North latitude, 71 West longitude on 14 September 1998. A deformation zone was eveident just to the northeast of the cyclone, which may have aided the development of strong convection over that region.
