Heavy Rains Over Texas as Tropical Storm Charley Moves Inland

(this 24-image Java animation sequence will take a minute or two to load...)

(- Animation -)

This loop of GOES-8 10.7 micron IR imagery shows the pulsing of cold cloud tops (red to black enhancement = -65 to -75 C) associated with strong convection within the central dense overcast (CDO) region of the tropical circulation. Heavy rains and flooding from this feature affected parts of southern Texas. The anticyclonic circulation of the upper-tropospheric storm outflow is also evident along the southern and western periphery of the system.
