This loop of GOES-8 6.7 micron IR (water vapor) imagery shows the development of supercell convection across southern Minnesota into central Wisconsin. Counties reporting tornadoes are outlined in black. The axis of a strong (55-60 m s-1) upper level jet streak is near the thin band of cirriform cloud streaking northeastward across western Kansas, eastern Nebraska and northwestern Iowa. Diffluent flow is evident across the Minnesota / Wisconsin / Iowa / Ilinois region.
