This loop of hourly GOES-8 Sounder Lifted Index product shows that as the main squall line begins to collapse, sufficient breaks in the cloud field allow the sounder to show a region of weak instability (LI of -4 C, dark blue enhancement) just south of the developing convection in northern Georgia (see the 10:46 UTC image).
