This loop of 30-minute GOES-8 10.7 micron longwave IR imagery shows the movement of the solar eclipse shadow as it crossed northern portions of South America. Note how the warm land (light brown color enhancement) cools to grey shades as the shadow passes, then warms again to light brown once solar heating resumes.
