This loop of GOES-8 visible imagery shows a region of elongated bands over northcentral and northeastern Iowa, associated with blowing snow and ground blizzard conditions across that region on 21 December 2000. Hourly surface weather (cyan; BS=blowing snow; U=unknown precip type; H=haze; F=fog; S=snow), visibility (yellow; in miles) and winds (red barbs; in knots) are overlaid on the imagery.
