GOES-11 was launched on 03 May 2000, and is in the process of being checked out by teams from NASA and NOAA. These examples show the first official visible channel image from GOES-11 at 19:00 UTC on 17 May (a larger version of the first full disk image is available from the UW-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center). The higher resolution panels show GOES-11 compared to current operational satellites (GOES-8 and GOES-10). All data are shown in their respective satellite projections.
