16 February 2000 | Cyclone Over the North Pacific
GOES-10 Imager 6.7 um IR ("Water Vapor")

This loop of GOES-10 imager 6.7 micrometer IR ("water vapor") imagery shows the development of a mid-latitude cyclone over the North Pacific Ocean during the day on 16 February 2000. The imagery is centered at 38 degrees North latitude, 148 degrees West longitude. The associated surface low was not particularly intense, only having a central pressure of around 1000 hPa. Unfortunately, there were no ship reports in this region to indicate whether there was any precipitation with this cyclonic vortex.
