CSP Photographic Archive

Introduction

Sample Photo

Weather observation photographs were taken on board the Discoverer approximately hourly, during daylight hours, for the entire cruise. Such photos (similar to that at right) consist of a shot over the port side of the ship, through a 28mm (wide-angle) lens. In addition, a large number of general interest photographs are available.

Archive Information

Photographs were originally made on 35 mm film; negatives were then scanned onto Kodak PhotoCD. Each image on disc is approximately 4MB, and as there are some 470 photos, we have not stored the set on a local hard disc.

Those interested can view the Complete Photo Catalog. Alternatively, should you require only weather observation photographs, you can use the On-line Order Form — we will then convert requested images from the CD to gif format and place on an ftp server for you to download. Users wishing to obtain photographic image files at original Kodak PhotoCD quality should contact SSEC directly.

To order general photographs, use the Alternative Order Form after browsing the catalog.
