The Vostok research station, located in Antarctica, was established by Russia in 1957. Currently it is operated cooperatively by Russian, U.S., and French scientists. Vostok Ice core data have produced a record of past environmental conditions stretching back 420,000 years which collaborate Milankovitch's calculations that he made with a slide rule. |
